Peninsula Made a Successful Debut in Huachen Auction House

2021.12.10

On December 7th, the special edition of Peninsula Table named “colorless sea” was finally sold for 18,000 RMB (25,000 euros) on Beijing Huachen 2021 Autumn Auction for artwork. The table is unique as it was produced with a traditional bronze paint crafts, which has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage. It made the table a collectable for those who admire and respect tradition and art.

The bronze dyeing crafts that has a history of 400 years, was only applied in small items, such as vases and jewelry for royal families. This time it was innovative to apply the historical crafts to a big item like Peninsula.

The idea of introducing “colorless sea” Peninsula Table to auction was initiated by Katherine Zheng, the founder and CEO of Mexarts and she said:

“The creation of ‘colorless sea’ means inheritance of historical crafts, a clash of history and modern times, a merge of art and life. It made us to see the unlimited possibilities that creativity brings to life. Art is not formless and remote while furniture is not only a functional object. Home design can be art that can be paralleled with well-known artists, works, and antique in the auction house. Carrying the soul of art, it will always be with us in everyday life and make life a kind of art” said Katherine Zheng, the founder and CEO of Mexarts.

Gan Xuejun, President of Huachen Auction said in the interview: “Life aesthetics is a brand new auction concept. We collect art pieces from ancient times and modern times is to make life better. “Colorless sea” is a great example.”

In the pre-exhibition on December 4 to 6, Mexarts booth became a unique spotlight. The “colorless sea” Peninsula Table, along with Mexarts classic designs, including Pacific chair, Pebble Beach chair and Puli chair, attracted the attention of many visitors who were moved by the artistic experience of home design.

On the morning of December 7, Mexarts and Huachen signed a strategic cooperation agreement in art collaboration with a purpose of promoting the merge and breakthrough among art, home and auction, who will create and deliver the beauty of art together.
